FATHERS DAY FRAME

Hey everyone! Ken here with Ken's Kreations. Well I know I am a week late and a dollar short, but I still wanted to share what I made for my Dad for Father's Day.

This idea came to me since I work at a bank. I was going though my change one day to find some change for the year I was born, and I though what a great idea for a frame to show all of your kiddos years they were born. So for this frame I found all of the years that his kids were born and made this frame. Now, as you can see I do not have dimes. Two reasons for this. 1) I could not find the years I needed 2) I liked the look of the change going form smallest to biggest and the dime threw off the look. However you could easily add the dime.

So for this project I used the Cricut Explore OneChalkboard Vinyl3 Picture Frame Opening and DCWV Latte Paper. I started with the design. I went into Design Space and created a virtual frame by adding the Basic Free Shapes into Design Space and create the frame exact to the measurements. Now of course we will nto cut this out so when it comes to the cutting phase we will turn the little eye next to each cut off so the Cricut Explore One DOES NOT cut it. Once I had the virtual frame in Design Space I was able to start my design. I choice to use the font from the CTMH Cricut Artbooking Cartridge for this project. I went ahead and typed the sentiment, names and years born:

"The Dates That Changed Everything"

Once done I group the main sentiment and hit "attach" button. This feature tells Design Space  that you want you sentiment EXACTLY as you see it on the screen. For the Name and Birthday I wanted to make sure we had a good spacing and it was centered. In the Text Edit Features you will be able to adjust your line spacing. Also at the top of Design Space you will see new Alignment Features that will allow you to make sure you text is nice and centered to each other.

Once I did this for all the names and birthdays I was able to  "attach" each one separate from each other. We are now done designing so we can go to the cutting phase. I chose to use the Chalkboard Vinyl for this projects since the rough texture matched the frame. Now this is a thicker vinyl and you will have to use the Smart Dial to customer and choose Chalkboard Vinyl . Once all of your sentiments have been cut we are not able to build the frame. I took the pennies, nickles and quarters and centered them on three different wood grain color themed sheets from the DCWV Latte Paper using Zots Glue Dots. (CLICK HERE ON HOW TO CLEAN COINS) I attached the paper to the frame using my Scotch ATG. I now am able to flip the frame over and clean the glass and adhere my Chalkboard Vinyl. I used the Cricut Vinyl Transfer Tape. The  Chalkboard Vinyl has a rough texture so make sure that your Transfer Tape is adhered good. If you need to you might need to use some of my favorite secret tools, the Probe Set has amazing tools to help with any vinyl projects. Now you can go ahead and put your vinyl on your farm and you are all done!
